The T.J. and Friends Foundation will have its annual dinner and auction on Saturday, March 3rd at 6:30 at the Elk’s Lodge in Elberton. Cost of a ticket is $20 and the deadline to purchase tickets is February 27th. Tickets may be purchased by calling 706-988-1268 or 706-498-2837. Auction items include golf packages, trips to Pigeon Forge, TN, a custom made jukebox, sports memorabilia and much more. All proceeds from the dinner and auction will go to cancer patients in Wilkes, Elbert, Hart, Franklin, Lincoln, and Madison counties. More than $240,000 has been given by the foundation since 2008.
American Cancer Society Bark For Life
The American Cancer Society and the 2012 Relay For Life Wilkes County Planning Committee is hosting the first Bark For Life of Wilkes County. On Saturday, March 24th from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm, Wilkes County will hst its first Bark For Life as a fundraiser for the 2012 Relay For Life of Wilkes County. The event will take place at the McGill-Woodruff Agricultural Center and will feature contests, food and activities for canines and their owners. Registration is $20 for the first canine participant from each household and $10 for each additional canine participant. Wills Memorial Hospital
The Wills Memorial Hospital Foundation, along with the Auxiliary, is hosting the
BIG DEAL Casino Night on Saturday, March 3rd at the WW Country Club from 7-10pm.
The event will benefit WMH and proceeds will fund a new X-ray machine. The evening will include Vegas Style gaming for gifts, hors oeuvres, a cash bar, and live music by Erin Thomas. Washington Wilkes Little League
Washington-Wilkes Little League sign ups will continue through the month of February. Sign ups are in the upstairs office of Ashley Park every Thursday & Friday from 5pm – 7pm & Saturday’s 9am – 1pm. The fee is $55 and the last day for sign ups will be February 24th.
12th Annual Camak’s Railroad Days Festival
The 12th Annual Railroad Days Festival will be held in Camak from 9:00am until 5:00pm on Saturday, April 7th. Live music, games, kiddie amusement rides, an old historic railroad town, railroad exhibits and displays, arts and crafts, antique tractors, classic cars, food, model trains, raffle items and much more. Eddie Jones Fundraiser
A fundraising effort is underway for Eddie Jones from Lincolnton. Eddie has a serious illness and needs help with medical bills and other expenses. The Washington Little Theater
The Washington Little Theater’s 3rd annual STARZ Awards and Gala will be held Saturday, January 28th at 7:00pm at the Bolton Lunceford Playhouse. Trophies for the best in 5 categories will be given and the 2012 officers will be elected followed by a gala reception hosted by the 2011 Board of Directors. Everyone is invited to attend and there is no charge.
SafeHomes Support Group
SafeHomes support group for Wilkes County and surrounding area residents will be held the last Thursday of each month from 7:00-8:00pm. A very important part of the services provided by SafeHomes are the support groups, where victims of domestic violence develop survival skills and discuss solutions in a confidential and understanding environment.
